The Power of Change: How We Are Shaping the Future of Healthcare—the first Student Scientific Conference of the Master’s Program in Healthcare Management — became a space for inspiration, networking, and honest conversations about the changes already taking place.

The conference took place on April 4 at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and served not only as a platform for presenting student research but also as an opportunity for participants to learn more about the Master’s program.

The event was opened with a speech by Tetiana Chernysh, Head of the Project Office of the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Medical Education Development in Ukraine.” She emphasized the value of interaction between students and university faculty:

“The most valuable thing we have is the interaction we build between learners and educators. It’s such a powerful learning environment that we want to share it with those who are not yet part of the program,” Tetiana said.

A key part of the conference was a panel discussion on the challenges and prospects of healthcare management development in Ukraine. The discussion featured:

  • Andriy Beznosenko, Head of the Scientific and Clinical Department at the National Cancer Institute, co-founder of OncoHub
  • Oksana Dzham, Director of the Bucha Primary Healthcare Center
  • Oleksandr Ivanko, Director of Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1
  • Iryna Kondratova, Associate Professor at KhNMU, Advisor to the Head of the NHSU

The discussion was moderated by Oleksandra Karkishchenko, a student of the program.

In the second part of the event, conference participants were introduced to student research projects that explored pressing topics in healthcare management:

  • Mykola Novikov, Roman Derkach, and Andriy Horoshchak shared insights on human capital planning in healthcare
  • Yevheniia Melnyk presented a study on the experience of continuing professional development for doctors in Ukraine
  • Maksym Barsa spoke about perceptions of quality indicators in intensive care units
  • Kateryna Poshtaruk explored confidentiality practices and attitudes toward patient data among PHC teams
  • Aliona Mendel-Apalkova presented research on physicians’ resilience during russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine

The official part of the event concluded with an inspiring talk by Matvii Khrenov, co-founder of the Ukrainian Healthcare Center (UHC). In his lecture, he emphasized how education can be not only a source of knowledge but also a tool for personal growth and inner transformation.

The conference wrapped up with informal networking, idea sharing, and meaningful conversations. The event reaffirmed that the Healthcare Management Program at NaUKMA not only builds professional competencies but also supports a community of future leaders of change.
