Steering Committee Approves the Project Work Plan for 2025

On 4 December 2024, representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC, donor), the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH, implementer), and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (beneficiary) held a meeting of the Steering Committee. During the meeting, they discussed key challenges and approved the work plan for the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Medical Education Development” for 2025.

This year, the Steering Committee meeting took place in a renewed format. The day before, on 3 December, we held a Conference on Achievements and Next Steps, which not only allowed us to publicly summarize the results of 2024 but also provided a more in-depth and meaningful review of the Project’s activities and its impact on medical education and practice. We invited key partners who were directly involved in implementing various initiatives. During the panel discussions, they shared insights into the changes at both individual and institutional levels made possible by the Project, discussed their successes and achievements, outlined future plans, and spoke about the resources and support provided by the Project.

The Steering Committee meeting began with an informal session — it was an open dialogue about the current context, challenges, and strategic directions for the Project’s development. The focus was on aligning priorities, analyzing changes in the healthcare sector, and identifying the most effective approaches to supporting medical education reform.

Following the informal discussion, the official meeting of the Steering Committee took place. During this session, key achievements, progress in the Project’s implementation, and governance issues were reviewed. Subsequently, participants proceeded to make official decisions and held a vote on the next steps, outlining a clear path for the Project’s development in 2025.

There is a lot of work ahead, but our shared goals and the support of our partners inspire and motivate us to move forward.
