In early September, the Master\u2019s Program in Healthcare Management at the National University of \u201cKyiv-Mohyla Academy\u201d launched its second academic year. This year, 27 new students\u2014motivated, energetic, and determined\u2014joined the community of future healthcare leaders, choosing to invest their time and effort into professional growth and meaningful contributions to the transformation of Ukraine\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n
Scholarships to Support Students<\/strong><\/p>\n Eighteen first-year students have received scholarships covering between 60% and 100% of their tuition fees. Eleven of these scholarships were awarded by the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Medical Education Development.” Additional scholarships were generously provided by our partners: the “Razom for Ukraine” charitable foundation, the Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives, Healthy Decisions, the \u201cTabletochki\u201d charity foundation, and individual benefactors. We sincerely thank all our partners for supporting the program and investing in the development of future healthcare managers.<\/p>\n Welcoming the New Cohort<\/strong><\/p>\n The academic year opened with warm greetings from Serhiy Kvit, President of NaUKMA, and Svitlana Oksamytna, Dean of the Faculty of Health Care, Psychology and Social Work. Faculty members also shared their aspirations for the new cohort, including Tetiana Chernysh, PhD\u2014manager of the Ukrainian-Swiss project \u201cMedical Education Development\u201d and Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology at NaUKMA\u2014as well as Pavlo Kovtoniuk and Nataliia Riabtseva, co-founders of the Ukrainian Healthcare Center (UHC).<\/p>\n What\u2019s Next for the Students?<\/strong><\/p>\n The first lectures of the semester have already taken place. Students began with a session by Serhiy Kvit on education as a capability, a responsibility, and a need. This was followed by lectures on health systems with Pavlo Kovtoniuk; health economics with Ukrainian economist, writer, and entrepreneur Oleksii Herashchenko; public health thinking with Yuliia Vernyhor, Senior Lecturer at NaUKMA; and leadership in healthcare with Matvii Khrenov, co-founder of UHC.<\/p>\n Over the next year and a half, students will engage in intensive study, discussions, lectures, and presentations, culminating in their master\u2019s thesis projects. We wish all students and faculty members an inspiring academic journey, fruitful collaboration, and impactful results that will help improve healthcare in Ukraine.
